Unlike any other organization in the world and for more than 150 years, the YMCA of Central Virginia has embraced the ideal of strength in spirit, mind and body for people of all ages, faiths, backgrounds and income levels. No one is turned away from YMCA programs or services due to an inability to pay. This commitment is made possible by “We Build People,” the annual charitable-giving program of the YMCA of Central Virginia.
YMCA programs are tools for teaching the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our strength is in the people we bring together: Children learn in a nurturing environment, teens have a safe place to go for fun, families spend quality time together, and those in at-risk communities are provided tools for success. It is because of caring and generous people like you, that we are able to provide Y programs to people otherwise unable to afford them. Through your generous support to We Build People, the community has access to safe and enriching activities such as:
